2014 CT

If you’re interested in the CT, read P-Mags Quick and Dirty Guide
asically it’s almost 500 miles from Denver to Durango, between 5,000 and 13,000′ (averaging above 10k though) and a scenic quickie thru.  I’m psyched.

With worldwide crazy weather, I expect some late-season snowstorms to make up for this low snow year. As things look now, my start date is about June 23 and finish date before August.

This will be my dog’s first long-distance trek. She wears her pack like a champ and is very well behaved on trail. She does find it pretty odd, my insisting on dragging her into this little sil-nylon and mesh “tent”!

I’ll post more soon. Issues I’m attacking:

Logistics of travel with dog will be tricky.
The CT has a narrow window of when to hike it, my window is smaller due to obligations right before and after.
Monsoon rain/lightning preparation.
Minor gear updates from PCT. Creating updated google doc with all info and specs.
Must-have mail drops: due to dog food mainly and goodies for me!
Food list, updated- primarily learned from my PCT thru in 2011.

More posts coming soon! I got some new gear (puff coat, rain coat, tit. poo shovel, and special dog food) will have deets on that and regular blog posts.
in the meantime I’m finalizing planning, packing, where my gear drops will be (that’s the biggie!) and working 7 days a week to pay for this trip!
